To Octavia – “Bury Me”
Melbourne’s To Octavia have returned swinging with their new single “Bury Me” - and it’s a hell of a statement. Moody, anthemic, and emotionally guttural, this track marks a turning point for the band - darker, heavier, and tighter than ever.
Opening with atmospheric tension before slamming into a wall of crunching guitars and soaring vocals, “Bury Me” explores the messy aftermath of abandonment and the quiet resilience that follows. It’s about building strength from the wreckage - a gritty ode to fucking up, surviving, and doing it all again with a bit more backbone. Merry Kirk-Holmes delivers one hell of a vocal performance, blending emotional vulnerability with a no bullshit sense of purpose.
Produced, mixed, and mastered by longtime collaborator Chris Lalic (Windwaker, RinRin), the track is crisp and punchy, with a cinematic edge that adds serious depth. There’s a sense of scale here - this isn’t just a rock track, it’s a full blown anthem for anyone who’s ever been ghosted, gut-punched, or just left on read.
Visually, the music video (directed by Colin Jeffs) sees the band battling sand and storms, mirroring the track’s themes of isolation and determination. It’s the kind of clip that makes you want to run into the desert, scream your lungs out, and then headbang until your neck gives out.
“Bury Me” also welcomes new guitarist Nav Jay into the mix - and it’s clear from the first riff he’s not just here to make up numbers. The whole band sounds laser focused and ready to kick the next door down.
In a scene full of safe bets and copycats, To Octavia are carving their own path - one riff at a time. “Bury Me” is the sound of a band levelling up and giving zero fucks in the process.
Let’s be real, if this is what they’re burying, we want to hear what they dig up next 👊🏽
