Seven Pound Halo – Cut Through The Noise
Melbourne’s Seven Pound Halo have lobbed a brand new single into our laps, and Cut Through The Noise does exactly what it says — slices straight through the endless digital sludge with a track that’s part grunge grit, part anthemic indie roar, and all heart.
From the first riff, it’s clear frontman Max Paul isn’t here to fk about. The guitars come in thick and chewy, dripping with that 90s alt rock fuzz you could sink your teeth into, while the rhythm section locks in so tight you’d swear they’d been surgically bolted together. Max’s vocals have that raw, unpolished edge that sits somewhere between a confession and a bloody call to arms — one minute vulnerable, the next howling like a man who’s finally had enough.

There’s a real push pull tension to the track, verses simmering under the weight of the world, choruses exploding like a pub full of people yelling the same line at the same time. It’s catharsis you can shout along to.
Produced by Woody Annison (Amyl and the Sniffers, Children Collide, The Living End), Cut Through The Noise has that sweet spot balance of grit and clarity. It still feels like a sweaty bandroom gig, but with enough polish to make your speakers happy.

This isn’t a track for background listening. It’s the song you blast when you’re stuck in traffic behind some clown doing 20 under the limit, or when you’re about to kick down the door on a Friday night. Seven Pound Halo don’t just play to the alt rock crowd, they’re gunning for anyone who’s ever needed a soundtrack to tell the world to get stuffed.
Verdict? A ripper track. Raw, loud, and honest. The way Aussie grunge rock should bloody be.
