Demon Devine - “Descent into Oblivion”

🩸Blackened OSDM from Sydney

Out now on Spotify & YouTube

Righto, if you’ve been craving something that sounds like it was dragged up from the depths of the underworld, rolled in grave dirt, and then shoved through a chainsaw made of riffs, “Descent Into Oblivion” from Sydney’s own Demon Devine is your next sonic flogging.

Formed in late 2022, these sickos clearly said, “fuck it, let’s worship death metal properly.” What you’ve got here is a blackened, brutal, and melodic slab of old school death metal with enough blast beats and tremolo to give your nan heart palpitations. Think Carcass got locked in a basement with Immolation and a slab of Tooheys - and then someone slipped At the Gates and Skeletonwitch into the mix for flavour.

The riffs? Filthy but catchy as chlamydia on Contiki. The tone? Thicker than your mate Dave after three schnittys. And there’s even a touch of melody woven in - just enough to make you question your moral compass before the next wall of sound slams you in the tits.

This track sets the tone for what’s to come, and if this is just the demo, then whatever the fuck they drop next is gonna be a full blown sonic exorcism.

Big shout out to sludge machine for the artwork and to jaquesennn for the mix/master that makes this whole thing sound like it was recorded in a war zone.

Catch ’em live at Death on King Street - Newtown, July 4. $15 on the door. Bring your mates. Leave your morals.
