Adelaide’s favourite emotional wrecking crew Throwaway are back, and this time they’ve brought a two punch combo to rattle your feelings and blow out your speakers. The new double single, “Faded” and “f a d I n g”, drops July 7 and it’s got more dynamics than your last three breakups combined.
Let’s start with “f a d I n g” - a slow burner that builds like a panic attack at 3am. It’s all soft whispers, tense atmosphere, and that creeping sense that shit’s about to get real. Think Young Lions if they’d just stubbed their toe on some childhood trauma. It’s emotional, it’s delicate, and it fuckin’ slaps you in the soul.
Then comes “Faded”, the heavier sibling who kicks down the door. This track is the main event - a heady mix of soaring choruses, screamed vocals, crunchy riffs and breakdowns that’ll have you throwing your spine across the room. Classic post hardcore chaos meets alt rock catchiness, Throwaway at their most powerful, polished, and emotionally unhinged.
Together, these tracks show off exactly why Throwaway have stuck around for nearly a decade - these two blokes (Zak & Adrian) have been crafting music since high school, and it shows in the chemistry and craft. They’ve opened for the likes of Banks Arcade, Badlove, and Belle Haven, and it’s bloody obvious they belong on bigger stages.
There’s real growth here, a band comfortable in their skin but still willing to bleed all over the place just to make a point. “Faded” might be the heavier hitter, but “f a d I n g” proves these lads can twist a knife slow when they want to.
Get ready to scream your lungs out and maybe cry a little – or a lot. Either way, Throwaway ain’t just hanging around anymore. They’re here to ruin your day in the best fkn way.
