Seek Misery – “Flesh and Rust”
Out Now | Mixed & Mastered by Simone Pietroforte
South Australia’s heaviest export Seek Misery are back swinging with their latest single “Flesh and Rust”, and fuuark, it’s a neck snapping, pit splitting belter. Imagine if Deftones took a wrong turn, found an ounce of death metal and metalcore in a bag, and decided to never come back. That’s the shoegazey, sludge soaked chaos on offer here. Floating ambience one minute, sledgehammer breakdowns the next. It’s beautiful. It’s filthy. It’s fucking glorious.
From the moment the track kicks in, there’s a palpable tension, an eerie calm before the storm, that explodes into a wall of chugged-out violence and cathartic noise. The layered vocals, courtesy of Ryan Dennis and crew, swing between haunting atmosphere and full-blown throat shredding rage, while the instrumentals churn like a cement mixer filled with broken dreams.
Breakdowns? Absolutely criminal. The kind that’ll make you instinctively look over your shoulder at a gig to make sure you’re not about to cop a flying elbow from some bloke twice your size. If there’s a track built to incite total fucking mayhem in the pit, “Flesh and Rust” is it.

Filmed and edited by Abyssal Vision, the video captures the tension, grit, and beauty of the track perfectly. And with Simone Pietroforte (the wizard of heaviness) behind the mix, the whole thing hits like a freight train made of sadness and steel.
