The Pingers – Green Apple
(Independent, 2025)
If you’ve ever shat your pants at a festival, faceplanted off a snowboard, or yelled “one more beer!” knowing damn well you’re 12 past your limit - Green Apple by The Pingers is your bloody soundtrack.
EHailing from the Snowy Mountains (where the piss is cold and the riffs are colder), The Pingers are the unholy lovechild of NOFX, Cosmic Psychos, and that one mate who never moved out of the sharehouse. Their debut full-length Green Apple is a filthy, frantic, fun as fuck punk rock party that doesn’t let up for a second.
Right off the bat, It’s Not Me, It’s You kicks in like a pub door at closing time - snotty vocals, relentless drums, and just the right amount of “get fucked” energy. Then there’s Shit My Pants, a lyrical masterpiece that manages to be both tragically relatable and absolutely piss funny. If you’ve never gambled on a fart and lost, you’re either lying or constipated.
One More Beer is the catchiest cry for help ever recorded, the kind of chorus that’ll be stuck in your head while you projectile into a bush outside the Bowlo. And don’t sleep on Shroom Mates - a trippy, chaotic ode to the magic of questionable decisions and the poor bastards who make them with you.
By the time you hit Foreskins and Buttholes (yes, that’s the actual title), you’re either fully on board or you’re a cop. There’s no in-between.
The Pingers don’t pretend to be anything they’re not. Green Apple is fast, dumb, loud, and entirely brilliant in its refusal to take anything seriously - except the party.
Chuck it on, crack a tin, and scream it out the car window at some dickhead in activewear.
