MY FRIEND CHLOE – “I CAN’T WAIT TO LIVE”

Existing in 2025 isn’t exactly a fkn picnic. It’s chaotic, suffocating, and at times it feels like the world is deliberately trying to grind you into paste. Brisbane’s post punk six piece My Friend Chloe have captured that sensation in brutal, unflinching fashion on their second single, I Can’t Wait To Live, out now on most streaming platforms.

This isn’t a track that lets you settle in, it drags you under from the first note. Built on a feverish pulse of electronic grit and hammered forward by relentless drums, the song is claustrophobic in the only way imaginable. Industrial synths hiss and stab like warning sirens, jagged guitars slice through the mix, and the bass locks everything into a groove that feels like being strapped to a ticking time bomb. The vocals? Urgent, ragged, and tinged with that Australian style that we have all come to love — the sound of someone clawing at the walls, desperate for air but refusing to surrender.

Produced by Cody McWaters (The Chats, King Stingray, Radium Dolls), the track has a razor wire precision, every layer carefully calibrated to add tension until the whole thing feels combustible. McWaters nailed it when he said it’s “like The Prodigy inspiring a Tarantino film” — it’s volatile, cinematic, and dangerously alive. The mastering by Thalia Rose Coleman adds the final polish, giving the chaos a sharp edge without dulling its impact.

Lyrically and sonically, I Can’t Wait To Live is a snapshot of what it feels like to be alive right now, frantic, heavy, and confusing as hell. It doesn’t offer solutions, it doesn’t soothe, it mirrors the noise and pressure of modern life, then dares you to dance inside the fire.

Following their debut Sunny Times in the Sunshine State (which nabbed Debut Song of the Year on Newcastle Music Show and landed at #98 in the 4ZZZ Hot 100), this new single isn’t just a step forward, it’s a fkn leap to the top. It proves that My Friend Chloe aren’t just another up and coming act, but one of the sharpest, most dangerous voices rising out of the Australian underground.

They’ll launch the single live on September 13 at Season Three in Brisbane, with Burnt Trash and Council Grounds in tow. If “I Can’t Wait To Live” is anything to go by, expect sweat, chaos, and catharsis in spades. Get tickets here.
