Bad JujuIncision (cut you out)

Bad Juju are back and they’re fucking fuming - and honestly, thank fk for that.

The Melbourne alt-rock five-piece have dropped “Incision (cut you out)”, and it’s a snarling, venom drenched anthem that grabs you by the throat, spits in your face, and then quietly tells you it’s your fault. Fresh off the heels of their moody as hell track “Honey”, this one rips the emotional band aid off and digs the fingernails right in.

Produced by Jack Newlyn (Between You & Me, Belle Haven) and mixed by Sam Bassal (Ocean Grove), the track hits with the punch of ‘90s grunge but sharpened with a distinctly modern, pissed off edge. You can feel the betrayal seeping through every lyric - it’s not the sound of someone sad they got hurt, it’s the sound of someone ready to set the house on fire and calmly walk away.

“People often aren’t really sorry,” the band says, “they’re just sorry they got caught.” And that bitterness bleeds into every riff. The guitars chug with grim purpose, the drums stomp like they’ve got a score to settle, and the vocals carry just enough melodic bite to remind you Bad Juju can still write a bloody good chorus while tearing someone to shreds.

It’s tight. It’s seething. It’s exactly the kind of song you chuck on when you’ve had enough of fake apologies and two faced mates.

Following their well received debut Blue Heaven in 2023, and on the back of support from triple j, NME, and Spotify’s Homegrown + Heavy, Incision proves these lads are levelling up again. If Honey was the cold shoulder, Incision is the swinging axe.

Catch them at BIGSOUND this September, or at Converge Festival in Melbourne - but maybe don’t get on their bad side.

Out now on all streaming platforms.
