“Let The Angels Take Me” - SEEK MISERY

South Australia’s SEEK MISERY have dropped a third EP that sounds like getting punched in the soul while falling down a flight of blastbeat-covered stairs. Imagine Emmure got blackout drunk with Korn, invited Slaughter to Prevail to the afterparty, and then screamed about trauma into a distortion pedal - that’s Let The Angels Take Me. And it fuckin’ slaps.

The band’s made up of seasoned lunatics from Exhuminator, Chrome Cage, A Dead Silence, 23/29, and Arbitrator (US) - so yeah, these aren’t your average weekend warriors. They’ve got more stage experience than your mate’s crusty pub band and way more riffs. Formed online in 2020, now fully live and fully out for blood.

Let’s talk tracks.

“Romanticising Suicide” is the big nasty - spooky modern nu-metal/noise metal vibes, riffs that want to cave your ribcage in, and a chorus that somehow makes you feel sad and like roundhouse kicking your neighbour.

“Let The Angels Take Me” (title track) is what I’d imagine eternal damnation sounds like if Satan had an 8-string and unresolved childhood trauma. It’s slow, disgusting and I love it.

Everything sounds punchy as hell thanks to mix/master wizard Simone Pietroforte (Distant, Signs of the Swarm, actual demon whisperer). And if that wasn’t enough, their next EP is already done and being shipped to Italy as we speak (feat two mystery Aussie heavy-hitters guesting on vocals). You’re not ready, but you should be.

They’ve just joined Ironjaw Bookings, so if you want your venue demolished:

For fans of: slow gritty breakdowns, bad decisions, and feeling everything too much

Standout track: “Romanticising Suicide”

Final verdict: Filthy, emotional, and heavier than your ex’s baggage - Let The Angels Take Me is a goddamn weapon. Don’t sleep on these maniacs.
