Astral High have kicked the door wide open with their sophomore single “Life’s For Fun”, dropping September 5th, and it’s a fiery reminder that music can still punch you in the gut while making you grin ear to ear. Where their debut “The Way You Make Me Feel” laid the foundation, this track kicks the bricks down and screams, stop wasting your time on bullshit and start chasing the life you actually want.

The song bursts straight out of the gate with soaring guitars and vocals that refuse to sit quietly in the corner. There’s a cheeky, no nonsense Aussie swagger baked into the riffs, but it’s paired with a Brit rock shimmer and a polished edge courtesy of Evan Lee and Ash Daws at The Loud Noise Estate. The mix is crisp without sanding off the rough, raw charm Astral High built their reputation on. Every instrument cuts through, tight as hell drums, bass that doesn’t just sit there but drives the track, and those melodies that wedge themselves into your head like a bloody stubborn hangover.

Lyrically, “Life’s For Fun” isn’t trying to be cryptic or clever for the sake of it. It’s a straight up rallying cry, life’s too short for stupid games, so take risks, follow your passions, and stop living by someone else’s boring rulebook. That honesty, combined with the band’s energy, makes this track feel less like a single and more like a mission statement.

Astral High — made up of Will Griffiths, Julian Colantuono, Izaak Estandarte, and Joseph Nobile, are quickly cementing themselves as one of Melbourne’s most exciting alternative rock outfits. Their ability to channel raw emotion and infectious hooks into something that feels both familiar and fresh is what sets them apart.

And if you think the single slaps, wait until you catch it live. The band will launch “Life’s For Fun” at The Catfish, Fitzroy, on September 13th, joined by Berkeley and Casino Daylight. Expect sweat, singalongs, and the kind of chaotic fun that only a packed Melbourne pub gig can deliver. Don’t miss it, Astral High are just getting started.
