DepriVation – “Mistakes Were Made”

DepriVation are back - and they’ve returned with a fkn vengeance. Their new single “Mistakes Were Made” is four minutes of groovy, stompy, riff drenched violence that’ll smack you upside the head, steal your beer, and still get you singing along.

From the jump, the guitars hit like a dropped anvil, and frontman Benn Weber comes in spitting pure venom - like someone kicked his bin over and he’s ready to fight the entire neighbourhood. The man doesn’t scream, he exorcises. Lyrically, it’s a furious reflection on fucking up, owning it, and letting the world burn around you if it needs to. If you’ve ever woken up with a hangover and a court summons, this one’s for you.

The groove is undeniable. There’s a two-step section that’ll have every pit warrior windmilling like it’s 2007, and the guitar solo from Lachlan Harrison is pure filth, in the sexiest, most face-melting way. Drums go hard, fills are tight, and the whole mix (cheers to Matt Clarke Audio) slaps harder than your old man after you dented the Hilux.

These bastards don’t just know metal - they are metal. Repping Australia at Wacken Open Air in 2023 wasn’t a fluke. DepriVation have been ripping faces off for over a decade and somehow, they’ve still got more gas in the tank than most bands half their age.

If you’re near Darling Nikki’s on June 28 and don’t catch them live with Dead By Dawn, Age of Emergence and Arbiter - then you officially hate fun, riffs, and probably yourself.

$25 to get your head torn clean off? Bargain.

“Mistakes Were Made” is a groovy, angry, heavy-as-balls gut punch. No bullshit. Just Aussie metal done right. Play it loud, scream along, and break something.

No ‘Mistakes Were Made here. DepriVation are back.
