Grab a glass of red, spark up a cigar, or throw yourself headfirst into the pit, because All Is Violent have dropped a four-track mind bender that’s as beautiful as it is fucking brutal. Their second EP, Monolith of Becoming, is a slow burning, post-rock epic that mutates into a progressive metal monster. It’s not so much an EP as it is a goddamn spiritual trip.

From the opening track “Born of Kalahari”, AIV summon windswept atmospheres and thunderous build-ups, layering ambient textures with tight as fuck rhythmic interplay. By the time “Departure of the Sun” hits, you’re either fully immersed or dead inside. There’s no in-between. “Where Knowing Ends” brings a dynamic push pull that feels like standing on the edge of a cliff during a storm, equal parts serenity and chaos. The closing title track? “Monolith of Becoming” is an emotional gut punch, a swirling, crescendoing finale that proves this trio aren’t just playing music—they’re sculpting instrumental architecture with a sledgehammer.

Engineered by Mike Trubetskov at EOL Studios (who also threw in some tasteful synth work), and mastered by Nick Di Lorenzo, the record sounds absolutely massive. Every note feels intentional. Every silence, fucking earned. AIV aren’t here to write catchy choruses, they’re here to drag you through the ether.

For a band with roots in Tasmania, Indonesia, and the US, formed in Melbourne, All Is Violent have carved out a distinct niche in the instrumental scene. Think Russian Circles meeting Sleepmakeswaves in a back alley, then hugging it out in odd time signatures.
