Melbourne’s rising heavy outfit This Space Is Ours are back with a brand new single and music video, ‘Picture Perfect Paper People’ - and it’s a gut punch of emotional grit and explosive sound that proves the band are charging head first into their heavier chapter.

Produced by Beau McKee (Dream On Dreamer, Void of Vision), the track opens with ambient tension and soaring clean vocals from frontwoman Gemma Dunsmore, steadily building toward an earth rattling breakdown towards the end that’ll have your neck sore for a week. The contrast between melody and heaviness is spot on - think ethereal sadness crashing into a concrete wall.

“The lyrics explore the pressure to kill your individuality just to fit in,” says Dunsmore. “Real happiness comes from embracing what makes you unique - so if you’re not accepted for who you are, fuck it, break free.”

Musically, it’s a masterclass in dynamics - delicate verses, emotionally driven choruses, and a final breakdown that hits like a truck loaded with unresolved teenage trauma. The dual guitar work from Mark Sterner and Sam Pratt weaves between beauty and brutality, while Harry Wingrove’s bass and Van Marks’ drums keep things tight, punchy, and just a little unhinged.
