Melbourne’s dirtiest export Mélancolia are back with a new single that spits straight in your fuckin’ face. Aptly titled “SPIT!”, this one’s a filthy slab of blackened nu-metal chaos featuring none other than Christopher Mackertich of DREGG, because clearly it wasn’t already off the rails.

This track’s a swerve from their previous carnage - it’s the band’s first foray into clean vocals, and somehow, they’ve made that shit sound even more menacing. Like a panic attack in a mosh pit, “SPIT!” is built for maximum live carnage - big singalongs, head splitting breakdowns, and stage dives straight into hell. It’s got that bounce your head til your neck snaps groove, fused with industrial noise, deathcore sludge, and the sort of unfiltered rage that makes you wanna punch your mirror and apologise after.

With “SPIT!” and previous single “ALL_IS_RUST”, Mélancolia aren’t just evolving - they’re mutating. Their new album ‘random.access.misery’ looks set to demolish genre boundaries harder than a tradie at knock off time, coining their own genre : Blackened Nu-Metal. If that sounds unholy, it is, and that’s the fkn point.

The band says, “Love us or hate us, you’ll fuckin’ remember us.” And they’re right. You’ll remember the screams, the filth, and the sheer Aussie spite of it all.
