Destroy Fear – The Mountain Before Us All
Melbourne, Australia | Debut Album, 2025
Melbourne’s Destroy Fear have swung in hard with their debut, The Mountain Before Us All — and they’re not just swinging for the fences, they’re tearing ‘em down plank by plank. It’s a fierce, emotionally charged offering that proves this lot aren’t here to warm the bench, they’re here to rip, roar, and redefine what modern Aussie metalcore can sound like. Think Killswitch Engage if they swapped Boston snow for blinding heat and VB.
From the jump, this album is a punch in the throat with purpose. There’s nothing sloppy or try-hard here, it’s tight, layered, and carved with the precision of a band that already knows exactly who the hell they are.
Take “Sweat Equity”, for instance. Built like a brick shithouse and just as dangerous, it thunders in with feral intent. The riffs come swinging like a crowbar at a servo brawl, while the chorus hits that sweet spot between anthemic and furious — pure pit fuel. It’s a working class war cry dressed in breakdowns and blistering hooks.

“The Redeemer” is another standout — darker, broodier, and bleeding with atmosphere. The clean vocals lift just enough to give you a glimpse of light before it all comes crashing back down in a storm of downtuned rage. It’s heavy, yes, but it’s also bloody cinematic.

And then there’s “Yesterday”, featuring Nick Potaris, a slow burning, emotionally gutting track that pulls no punches. There’s a surprising amount of clean singing here, and it’s not just filler — it’s vulnerable, melodic, and delivered with so much raw conviction it’ll knock the wind out of you. As it builds, the full band enters like a goddamn tidal wave, crashing down in a moment that feels like therapy through distortion. It’s hands-down one of the album’s most dynamic and daring moments.

The Mountain Before Us All isn’t just heavy for the sake of it — it’s purposeful, powerful, and bloody well produced. Destroy Fear have kicked the doors down with this one, and it’s clear they’re only just getting started.
