Wasted Years – “Wake Up”

Out now on all streaming platforms.

Melbourne’s own Wasted Years are back on the the attack with their latest single “Wake Up” — and shit off, it hits harder than a slap from nan when you drop the F bomb at Christmas lunch.

Straight out the gate, this thing punches with that scrappy, no bullshit indie rock vibe that got bands like Dear Seattle, Violent Soho, and Luca Brasi blasted out of every share house stereo in the country. But Wasted Years ain’t riding coattails, they’re carving their own path, with fists up and hearts on sleeves.

The chorus? Fuck. It’s one of those arms round your mates, screaming at the top of your lungs kinda deals. Picture 500 pissed legends at The Tote singing in unison while the floorboards sweat under the weight of unity and spilled beer. It’s raw. It’s loud. It’s bloody beautiful.

Doug (guitar and vox) belts it out like he’s exorcising demons, with just enough crack in the voice to remind you this shit’s real. Josh (drums) smashes through like he’s settling a score with the kit, keeping things as tight as a servo meat pie at midnight. And Kyle on bass — smooth, groovy, the glue holding the chaos together. It’s a proper trio attack, no weak links, no bullshit.

Following underground bangers like “OCD” and “Celebrity,” “Wake Up” feels like Wasted Years’ real “Oi, listen up” moment. There’s bite, there’s brains, and there’s enough heart to raise the dead.

If Luca Brasi were ten years younger and didn’t have frostbite in their feelings, this is what they’d sound like. Wasted Years aren’t just waking up — they’re waking us up. And we’re bloody stoked to hear what comes next. A solid 9/10 track 👊🏽
